I'm a traveller, currently living in Thailand with my wife and 2 boys. Before this, I used to live in London and before that, Kuwait. People call me a geek. Not too sure why...
This little restaurant is on Hilal Street also known as Halal Food Street. It is owned by a Burmese Muslim man who has been in Chiang Mai for a long time. Their menu consists mostly of western food but you will also find some Thai dishes. It is not very difficult to find as it is right opposite Ban Haw mosque. The price ranges from 60 - 200 baht. I would recommend their chicken or beef burger. Excellent taste! If you're really hungry, you could go for the double or triple beef burger. They also have one of the best breakfasts in Chiang Mai with really generous servings.
A new Halal restaurant opened about 2 months ago, it serves both Thai and Western food. Their spaghetti carbonara with white sauce is recommended. The portions are really big compared to other restaurants. The prices are really good too and you can have a nice meal for under 100 baht including a drink. I would highly recommend this place.
One of the best steakhouses in Chiang Mai but not as popular as you'd expect it to be. Their menu mainly consists of Western items like spaghetti, pasta, sandwiches and their speciality which is steaks. They also serve some Thai food. The most popular item is the braised lamb steak with cheese. If you're not a fan of lamb, you could go for Mexican braised beef steak which is equally delicious. Every weekend, they also have special items on the menu like Honey roasted Duck steak. The prices are a bit on the high side compared to the local food in Chiang Mai but justifiable because of the quality of the food. You'll end up paying 250 baht for a lamb steak but it's totally worth it. You also get mashed potato and salad with every steak that you order.
This Halal Thai restaurant is on Hilal Street which is the Halal food capital of Chiang Mai. They serve a variety of Thai dishes. From Tom Yum Kung to Pad Thai to the local favourite Khao Soi. Their dishes start from 50 baht onwards. Many local and travelling Muslims like to eat there.
One of a few Halal Japanese restaurants in Chiang Mai, Sushi bento serves authentic Japanese food like sushi, ramen noodles and snacks like Takoyaki. It's very reasonably priced as well compared to other Japanese restaurants in Thailand. You can have a bowl of ramen noodles for about 80 - 100 Baht. The customer service is good too. Although you would have to write your order yourself on a piece of paper, just tell them you don't speak Thai and point to the photos on the menu to let them know and they will be happy to help.
